EMPOWERING YOU

Kingston City Council postal elections will be taking place this October.
As a Chartered Accountant and trusted small business advisor, I am also a long-standing local resident raising my family in our Kingston community.
Kingston needs responsive, switched-on councilors with a can-do attitude and real-life experience to support families, businesses and community during the current cost of living crisis. Someone who understands the pressures and challenges of putting food on the table, paying household bills, keeping a job, and someone knows what it takes to create jobs.
We need councilors who add real value to Kingston’s policies, deliver needed and tangible results for our community and improve the operations of our council to stop waste and annual rate hikes.
That is why I’m asking you for your support and your vote. I am family and community minded. And as tax adviser, I understand business, budget and numbers like no other candidate. Above all else, I work hard to get the best results possible. Our residents and ratepayers deserve nothing less.
To support our Kingston community, I would like to focus on:
– Address issue of crime by getting our youth off the streets and into “youth sheds” where they can learn a trade, play community sport, receive mentorship and find their community.
– Protecting Green Wedge as SRL and stable yard in Heatherton will decimate 40 hectares of green open space our community spent decades shaping and protecting. I strongly oppose loss of public amenity and will fight to protect our chain of parks and compensate those affected by works.
– Securing a safe, supportive environment and access to facilities that support the education and development of our children and young people many of whom spend too much time in front of devices or cooped up indoors.
– Auditing and investing in our sport and recreation infrastructure and services to ensure that the range of ages and interests of our community are being met. Our sporting clubs, community centres, libraries, playgrounds, parks, and open spaces including walking and cycling trails, community gardens are often lacklustre and less than inspiring due to lack of both advocacy and funding, relying on wonderful volunteers for support.
– Additional measures we can take to support our seniors and, those living alone or experiencing special needs as currently there are very few things council offers to people who bult this country.
– Developing local opportunities to grow businesses and jobs, revitalising our retail shopping strips including Thrift Park, Park Road and Moorabbin DFO and making sure shopping precincts are accessible, have sufficient lighting and parking, and are attractive and safe public spaces.
Your feedback is very important to me. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with me to discuss issues, concern or changes you want to see via email jane.agirtan@outlook.com or use contact form on the website.
Together, we need to get on with rebuilding our community. With your support, I will work hard, honour your trust, and be a strong, local voice for real and positive change for Chicquita and our Kingston community.
Yours sincerely,
Jane Agirtan
