Meet Jane!

My name is Jane Agirtan and over the past 20 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to live, raise my family and work in our beautiful city of Kingston.

Professionally, I’ve been a Chartered Accountant and a small business advisor for well over a decade.

Prior to my career in Accounting, I worked in various iconic Melbourne restaurants as a chef and I also taught at a school in the Middle East while travelling.

As a local resident, ratepayer, parent and former Kingston Ward committee member, I understand the challenges our local community is facing and I’m prepared to roll up my sleeves, get involved and make a difference!

With your support, I was successfully elected to Kingston Council in November 2024 representing Chicquita Ward ( Parkdale, Mentone, Cheltenham, Heatherton) and will continue to advocate for cost of living relief, sensible back to basics policies, transparency and will continue to be a strong local voice to bring REAL change and fresh, independent perspective!

My Story

I was born in a small mining town in Siberia and came to Australia in 2004 as a skilled migrant. Fast forward through years of hard slog running commercial kitchens while studying and here we are, living the dream with my partner Kevvo and daughter Rubz!

Local!

Many people say I look familiar – no wonder as I lived in Chelsea, Mordialloc, Mentone and Parkdale and worked locally since 2004. I love our parks, cafes and the beach – Kingston is my happy place!

You’ve probably seen me at the shops, school drop off, local gym, at Waves or local breweries.

I’ve volunteered locally for wonderful non-for-profits helping women fleeing domestic violence and providing dressing and support service for women as they seek work.

Experienced!

As a trusted tax specialist, I’ve advised many local businesses including manufacturers in Braeside, local real estate agents, retailers, hospitality, property developers and tradies.

I’ve graduated from Future Leaders Program at Victorian Parliament in 2019 and volunteered to help fundraise, plan and execute various political and grassroots campaigns.

With passion for policy-making I understand budgets and long-term impacts of financial decisions like no other councillor.

Gets Results!

Kingston City Council invited me to join Central Ward committee in 2018 to provide high level advice on issues such as congestion, parking, housing strategy and preserving our green open spaces.

During the pandemic I’ve used my social media to advocate for reopening of our cafes and restaurants and assisted business recovery post-lock down.

I genuinely enjoy working with people – I do my best to listen and hear, build relationships and will always be there to pick up the phone and help residents !

Time for change!

As a ratepayer, I want to ensure we go back to basics and manage ratepayer funds efficiently – no more divisive politics, virtue signalling or wasting resources on fringe issues council doesn’t control.
